Occluders

We have 3 occluders; we require 3 occluders to give the best user experience and to allow for a realistic depiction of the user wearing the shoes in all scenarios.

Ankle Occluder

We reccommend making a custom occluder per unique shoe geometry

This is the most important occluder to be added to the shoe (GLB format). The occluder has to fit tightly to the inside of the shoe and has to extend above the shoe for optimal results.

We've found that the best approach to create the ankle occluder is to manually create one inside blender (or any tool you use). First start out with a sphere and stretch and deform that sphere so it fits tightly inside the 3D shoe. In total the process takes about 1-2 mins - see diagram, below, of this approach.

Leg Occluder

This occluder is placed inside the shoe like a funnel (GLB format).

Please note that if you do create a custom occluder then ensure that the normals are pointing inwards.

Plane Occluder

We use this occluder it to texture project segmentation masks of the trouser leg onto the surface (GLB format). Allowing for a realistic occlusion effects during the AR experience if the user is wearing trousers.

The users trousers/jeans are cut out of the camera texture and are projected onto this surface of this occluder.

Please note that if you are importing "High Top Shoes" then it is best to leave out the plane occluder
